Thousands expected to hit the street for 82nd Ave Parade of Roses

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The annual 82nd Avenue Parade of Roses will return for its sixth year at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The colorful parade will run from Eastport Plaza (82nd and Holgate) to the southeast campus of Portland Community College to the intersection of Yamhill and 78th Avenue.

According to officials, prior participants have included: The Rose Festival Court, Rose Festival Princesses and The Royal Rosarians, the Portland Rose Society with their Rose Society members of the Marching Rose Garden, Madison High School Drummers, Cinema Classic Car Club, Burgerville, East Portland Chamber of Commerce, various Neighborhood Associations, Holgate Library, Kell?s Irish Pipes and Drums, Lee?s Lion Dancers, Mt. Hood Little League, Oregon Zoo, Robert Gray Middle School band, Ronald McDonald, Taekwondo, City of Portland Police Department, The City of Portland Fire Department, The Armed Forces, Veterans, City of Portland Mayor, Commissioner Dan Saltzman, Herbie The Love Bug, and many schools from pre-school to high school.

Organizers said this Rose Festival-sanctioned event is an opportunity to showcase the unique flavor of local businesses and the diversity of the neighborhood. Within easy walking distance of thousands of folks in the community, the parade brings the atmosphere of the Rose Festival right to your backyard.
